Inspired by Life’s Journeys

Unite to Make a Difference Together

At the heart of every community lies a spirit of giving and togetherness. In June 2025 we invite you to join us in making a difference, one step at a time, as we walk to help charities build a brighter future for all.

JUNE 5 - JUNE 15 2025: LLANGWM - BIRMINGHAM. 11 DAYS, 225 MILES.

Finishing on Father’s Day in Birmingham. A journey of remembrance and support for all Dads.

It all begins with an idea. Inspired by Life’s Journey’s is the motto of ‘The Walk’. It captures the emotional connection between people we all know who have either suffered, or passed due to Cancer or Heart and circulatory diseases. They give us all the inspiration to find ways to help the wider community in need, especially those affected.

The Walk brings together a close group of friends inspired to set up this event in memory of Walter “Wally” Hames. Wally’s legacy is the main inspiration for the The Walk however, each of us has been touched or impacted by the loss or suffering of a loved one due to these terrible diseases.

About The Walk

The Walk is an annual event aimed at raising money for charity whilst exploring some of the worlds beautiful landscapes.

This June, we invite you to join us in an extraordinary journey of hearts, minds, and spirit. The Walk 2025 from RFC Llangwm in Pembrokeshire, Wales, to Chamberlain Square, Birmingham City Centre, aims to raise enough money to make considerable contributions to the chosen charities that work tirelessly to support both those affected by cancr and heart disease, and their loved ones.

Starting on June 5 over 11 days, finishing on Father’s Day - Sunday June 15 2025.

Inspiration for The Walk

About Wally

Wally’s legacy is the inspiration and heart of The Walk. He sadly passed away on March 22, 2020, from COVID-19 complications, just as the world was shutting down. The restrictions of the early lockdown meant we couldn’t mourn or celebrate his life in the more traditional ways we had wished, with only six people able to attend his funeral.

Five years later, we walk to remember him and to make new memories in his honour. It is also our way of saying “THANK YOU” to our DADs and loved ones, past and present.
